Big D carries a wide variety of generators for all your energy needs in the remote areas of the Permian Basin. Our generators are commonly used for both short and long term power supply for pumping units, production facilities, and water well pumps. Our generators run on 480 Volts and come in sizes ranging from 20 kW to 1000 kW (1 megawatt).
Generators are mounted on trailers and delivered to location, and depending on the application, are often hooked up by Big D personnel. In some cases, we do advise that our customers provide a licensed electrician to perform the connections, especially when connecting to customer owned assets.
Big D’s fleet consists of both diesel and natural gas units. Big D can perform a courtesy phone call to the fuel provider of choice and hook up to the external fuel source. The natural gas produced as a biproduct from well completions is a more cost-effective fuel than diesel, however the gas needs to be cleaned before it is used in a generator. The natural gas generators are equipped to automatically switch to fuels such as liquid propane in the event the gases are not available or inconsistent. The natural gas generators are a great solution for longer term applications when waiting on grid power to be ran to location.
Big D offers full-service generator rentals – meaning there are no hidden surcharges, and we provide full-service oil changes on each generator every 250 hours of engine run-time. Our service vehicles are outfitted with oil vac systems for increased speed of service to minimize the down time a unit is turned off.
