Big D Equipment Company was created in October 1977. We began lining reserve pits for the energy industry and as we grew, we searched for additional product lines. Steel pipe was used to bring fresh water to reserve pits. Laborers worked for hours installing and picking up the steel pipe. We saw polyethylene pipe making the process of water supply much easier because it could be transported on a reel and rolled out for use. When a rig was moved, the polyethylene pipe could be re-spooled and moved. This was revolutionizing water supply for rigs. We began offering the sale and rental of polyethylene pipe.
We continued to add other items to complement our rental line. Our customers could call us for pit lining, polyethylene pipe installation, pump and generator rental and fence building. Big D expanded into the business of permanent lining of ponds, using polyethylene membranes. This business grew rapidly and included installation of complete liner systems in landfills, liquid storage facilities and for secondary containment. We saw the growing need for environmental services and began to offer a response to hydrocarbon or salt water spills and clean up of oil or salt contaminated soil.
We saw an opportunity to broaden our capabilities once again by acquiring the equipment to perform our own construction services. Big D Construction Company provides the complete construction of a drilling location, including roads, pads and reserve pits. Our services are available throughout Texas and Southeastern New Mexico.
